Hi all!
I want to formally announce that AGESW’s Journal of Gerontological Social Work has a new editor: Michelle Putnam, PhD. Michelle serves as the Associate Dean for Research and Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at Simmons College in Boston, MA. In 2012, she assumed the role as Guest Editor for the Journal’s special issue on aging with disability. Her work was excellent, and the issue extremely well-received. I and the AGESW Board feel that we are extremely fortunate to have her vision and leadership in continuing the growth of the Journal.
I also want to take a moment to publicly thank Amanda Barusch, who has served as the JGSW editor for the past five years. She and her managing editor Carmen Moreno have spent endless hours insuring that the articles accepted for publication are of excellent quality and make significant contributions to the literature. Under Amanda and Carmen’s leadership, journal subscriptions have risen, full-text downloads increased and the average turnaround in regard to reviewing articles for publication 45 days to first decision. We cannot thank Amanda enough for all she has done to insure the success of JGSW. I am also happy to report that Amanda has graciously agreed to provide consultation to Michelle during this period of transition. In addition, Carmen will be staying on as the Managing Editor.
AGESW continues to grow and make important contributions to gerontological social work education. The success of our organization is not only due to you, our wonderful members, but also to members like Amanda, Michelle and Carmen, whose leadership and dedication are without question.
Thank you,
Tracy Schroepfer, PhD
AGESW President
